Update on Southern Gauteng 2021 IPT

GM IPT 2021

Update as at 22.9.2021

  1. Fields
    1. Due to the reduced number of teams, requiring 25/26 games, we have reduced the fields to Randburg A & B, with a few overflow games to be played at Bryanston High School, which at 12 minutes/ 7 Km away is the closest Astro pitch.
    2. The booking of these fields has been confirmed.
  2. Schedule/Fixtures
    1. Each team will play 3 matches.
    2. Games start at 14:00 on Friday, and finish at 12:00 on Sunday.
    3. There will be a feature match both evenings, played on the A field at Randburg.
    4. Once we have received confirmation that the Alliance will indeed field the 2 sides, by Wednesday latest, we can develop the final fixture list.
  3. Annual General Meeting
    1. The AGM will be held at Randburg, in the Lapa, at 08:00 on Saturday morning.
    2. We have allowed 1 hour for the meeting, where after matches will commence (at 9:30 to give players time to warm up after the meeting).
  4. Umpires and technical table
    1. Petra Anderson from SGHA has agreed to organise umpires for our matches.
    2. There may be a problem on the Sunday (and possibly Saturday afternoon) as it is the final weekend of leagues in Southern Gauteng. As soon as we know the situation we will look to players to fill these gaps.
  5. Trials
    1. We are still short of nominated selectors:
W60+ Graham Hawkins Fiona Harrison
M60+ Gerald Peckover Tony Markowitz
M65+ Mike Campbell
M70+
  1. We have approached SG Masters to assist in finding selectors.
  2. As far as possible, we will be grouping the games, e.g. the women will play consecutive matches on the same field, so the selectors are not required to spend hours waiting for their next game. They can also then compare notes immediately after the 2/3 matches.
  3. We will obtain lists from each province per team– name, number, age group, preferred and alternate position, to make the selectors task easier in identifying players.
  4. The WC Squads will be announced immediately after the final game on Sunday.
  1. Covid
    1. We have developed and distributed attached to this email a comprehensive Covid protocol document.
    2. Provinces are requested to give these to their various team managers, who will be tasked to ensure their players cooperate and adhere to them.
  2. Security
    1. The Covid Officer at Randburg will be manned by personnel from a Security company.
    2. There will also be a roaming security guard at Randburg.
    3. Fortunately, there is only one entrance to the Randburg field complex which will enable us to manage entry to the premises, reducing the need for more guards.
    4. The parking at the venue has also been fenced off and there is a guard there, which players are encouraged to tip when they leave.
  3. Medical
    1. We will be contracting TAC-Pulse, who have provided paramedics to our previous events.
    2. The paramedic staff will be 3 Basic Life Support, 1 Intermediate LS and 1 Advanced LS.
    3. There will also be an Ambulance
    4. The medics will be at Randburg for the duration of play.
  4. Physiotherapy
    1. We are waiting for agreement from a physiotherapy practice to have a physio on site.
    2. The service will be provided to individuals ate their cost, and therefore, other than providing meals, there will be no cost to the tournament.
  5. Catering
    1. We have organised food trucks at Randburg:
      1. 2 x Coffee
      2. 1 x Schwarma
  • 1 x Burger
  1. 1 x chip n dip.
  1. The bar will be open, selling cold drinks and beers.
  1. Saturday Dinner
    1. Weather permitting, we will have a Braai at Randburg on the Saturday evening.
    2. The cost of this meal is included in the players’ tournament levy.
    3. Teams will be asked to provide numbers of extras (wives, etc.), for planning purposes. As far as possible, these tickets to be pre-paid.
    4. The meal will be provided on the presentation of a ticket, which will be provided to the Team Managers on Friday.
  2. Photographer
    1. We have contacted 2 photographers to take team photos on Friday and Saturday.
    2. Digital versions of the photos will be provided free of charge to the team manager.
    3. There may also be action photos for sale to individuals.

    1. We have approached Sedgars Sport (who supplied the SA Olympic teams their kit) to have a tent/stand at Randburg, to offer sticks, grips, shin pads, etc. for sale.
  4. Sponsors
    1. We have been unsuccessful in our approaches to companies for sponsorship of the tournament. The common reason being the economic times as a result of the Covid lockdowns.
  5. Financials
    1. We have requested a reduced (bulk) rate from SGHA for the fields at Randburg. We await their response. The financials currently include the full rate.
    2. At this stage we have not budgeted for the managers to contribute a tournament levy. However, it Is proposed that they pay for their meal on Saturday.
